RE: Channel 20
nope, not true, no particular channel is more prone to interferance, it is entirely a local thing. (your field might have problems with certain channels) whoever wrote that probably has lots of planes on 20 and doesn't want anyone else on that freq! [8D]

RE: Channel 20
Well the problem is this Channel 4 TV has it's sound carrier on 71.750 if you add 455 to that you get 72.205 now that is between our channel 20 and 21 Our channel 20 is 72.190 and channel 21 is 72.210 Now IF your have channel 4 TV in your area and you are using a SINGLE CONVERSION receiver you could have problems since the single conversion receivers have only one IF frequency which is 455KC So to be perfectly safe IF you are using single conversion receivers and have Channel 4 TV STATION IN YOUR AREA DO NOT USE CHANNEL 20 OR 21 There will be no problem with dual conversion receivers since the IF frequency is 10.7 Mhz

RE: Channel 20
My field does not allow ch20 because either we receive interferance from a local TX station or we give interferance to them. I don't remember which one it is.

The interference is caused to your flying buddies SC receivers since the TV signal and the ch 20 xmitter hetrodyne in the other receiver front end to produce the 455 KHz IF frequency.
The person that is flying on channel 20 will not have any problems with either SC or DC. His flying buddy might.
As said above, if all receivers are dual conversion there will be no problem. However, there is one maker that is dominately single conversion, so be careful.
Some locations band 20 and 21.
