GWS 4-ch radio/Hitec Radio-equivalent?

GWS 4-ch radio/Hitec Radio-equivalent?
I want to buy a Crazy Max. From what I can gather a hitec laser 4fm with hs-55 servos would be ideal. This would also cost about $150. I've noticed a GWS 4 ch radio with 3 Naro servos can also be bought from hobby lobby (Sukhoi and Monsun use this radio) for $89! Are these systems roughly equivalent and could I use the far cheaper GWS system in this-my first aileron plane? I appreciate your input.
