Default servo JR or HITEC or FUTABA

What kind of servos do you recommend for ruder in EXTRA 2.6m composite arf :

Solution 1 – two servos of JR 8611A (24kg/cm 0.18s/60 at 4.8V I don’t kow how fast this servo is on 6V - do you know)

Solution 2 – two servos of HITEC HSR5995TG http://www.servocity.com/html/hsr-59...ra_torque.html

It will be almost 50kg/cm – but Hitec (0.12s/60) is faster then JR (0.18s/60) – but I think that JR will be more reliable.

What do you thing about Hittec HS 5945 http://www.servocity.com/html/hs-594...al_torque.html for other surface - it is better use fast (0.13s/60) hitec servos or slow (0.18s/60 ) but more reliable JR servos.

Do you know any futaba servo about 300oz ?

I prefer Futaba or JR. The JR 8611a servos have been rated at 320 oz of torque at 6 volts. I doubt you would be able to tell the slightly faster Hitec. In my opinion the JR is a better servo period. Bill

I've flown the same plane with dual 8611's. Love it!!!

You can do a search here and you'll be busy reading for days.

All the info is here if you are willing to put the time in and do some reading on your own.

You'll get 500 different opinins about which servo to use and which servo is junk.

Do a search and read the info--make your own decision.

Ant of your choices will work just fine. As to speed, if you can actually tell the difference between the JR and the Hitec I'd be pretty surprised.

I use them all and have no complaints. I really like the prgramming feature of the Hitech's. If I ever do multiple servos per surface it's Hitech.

Portos- Be aware that if you go with the Hitec's that you would want to use the 5955TG for aircraft use, not the 5995TG (robot servo.)

I think you will find that either servo will work very well, but the Hitec has an advantage with its geartrain (Titanium) that do not develop slop (ever), and the programability so no other devices are needed onboard the model that add cost and weight.

Mike.
Why? They look the same to me.

The 5995 only recognizes input from 1100-1900 and is set to 180 degrees travel out of the box where the 5955 is 900-2100 @ 120 degrees. The 5955 also has the heatsink and the price is the same.

I'm running 8611's on the ailerons and elevators, and two 8711's on rudder. (I think you can get away with a single 8711 on rudder if you wanted too but I needed the tailweight)

I would recommend against using the stock rudder servo tray, I beefed mine up considerably and still broke it.

I find the weight penalty of the matchboxes to be pretty much zero especially on a plane this size, there is still the added cost of them but then the hitec programmer is $160 also. What you do get by using matchboxes instead of the programmer is the ability to better distribute the power since they can be powered directly. This will reduce the need for a power expander, a cost savings there, but then I don't use a power expander in my 2.6 compy anyway.

Except the dead band adjust everything that you can do with the programmer I can do with my 9303, you either do it with the programmer or do it on the radio, that's why I have a computer radio, to be honest I don't see a benefit to the programmer, JR servos come set with a narrow deadband.

The ti gear set on the 5955 can't be beat, I've just never been a fan of Hitec precision. (poor centering)

The loaded deadband of the 5955 is about 1/2 that of the 8611 according to my tests.
The no load deadband on the 8611 is 0us as JR says but the loaded deadband is what moves your surface.
