Default Dual conversion , Single Conversion ??

OK, I'm looking for more information on this topic.

What is the difference in single and dual conversion?

Is it just the receiver type , crystal type , or Tx also?

Will one Tx work with dual and single conversion rx?

I'm replacing an old Futaba AM Conquest system and looking for info ! I could use this around the house but the batteries are as old as the system and its like Rudolph , won't be allowed to play in any games!!
