Default Can I use old Airtronics SR AM radio

Are AM radios suitable for model aircraft anymore? I picked one up from a buddy who's rc-ing father passed away. I was thinking about using it in some self-designed scratch builds so I don't bury my good radios hard into the dirt if things go wrong. What do you guys think?

Hi Silent J,

Nothing at all wrong with AM. but it has to be narrow band, I doubt the unit you show there is narrow band. Check to see if there is a gold sticker on the Tx somewhere, if not you could not use it at an AMA sanctioned field, of course if you are flying out on your "back 40" who'd know

Pete
