Default Futaba 9-cap radio, receiver and Jr servo compatibilty

I just picked up the new Hangar-9 150 P-47 ARF and while looked threw the manual I found that you need 2 new style Jr retract 791 servos that produce 260oz of torq. Does anybody now if the Jr servos are compatible with a futuba 9-Cap and receiver? Thanks for any help you can give me.

I use JR servos with Futaba Receivers all the time, no problem. My latest plane had the following:

Futaba 9650 aileron servo
JR 3421 elevator servo
Expert SL451 rudder servo
Hitec 225 throttle servo
JR aileron extension (hooked to a Futaba servo, you have to shave the prong off of the J connector)
JR HD Switch

All run by a Futaba 149 PCM reciever to 9c super transmitter.

Thanks daven

That's what I thought but I have read that some people have had problems doing this. The biggest thing I don't what to buy another radio just to fly this plane.

Wish I'd seen this before I imported 2 JR 791'2 to the UK. I too have a Hanger 9 1.50 Mustang and bought these as they drop straight in. Do they work with a 9CAP and 149DP receiver.... not yet!! Is there anything I should know ?

Thanks guys

Scott

They should work just fine. But be aware you cannot use a 5 cell receiver battery with these servos, they are only rated for 4.8V 4 cell operation.
If your not used to using "universal" style servo plugs in your Futaba receivers, just remember to align the plug with the signal wire towards the notch for the Futaba style plugs tab.

Hi Pete

It was a 4.8v 4 cell pack I was using. If I plug a normal Futaba servo into ch 5 it works fine. These 791's give a buzz when you plug them in but nothing else.

Regards

Scott

Hi Scott,
Have you tried *****g out the end points on channel 5?
Retracts aren't proportional, at a certain pulse position they cycle.
good luck,
Pete

JR connectors aren't keyed, Futaba's are. Make sure you're plugging them in the right way, dark brown on JR is black on Futaba. Check the connector at the extension too.,

Yeah I've tried ranging from 80% all the way to 140% on ch5. They are plugged in the correct way (been there before )

Well guys the definitive answer is.... they only work on a 4 cell pack. Turns out the pack I was using dropped a cell. Fully charged a new 4 cell nimh pack and they work fine with the rates at 100%. Very strange but hey...they work!

Thanks to all for the advice

Scotty

Great to hear you found the problem, even better that you found you had a bad cell in a pack before flying with it[X(][8D]
Cheers,
Pete
