Default Hitec 5645 Jan 02 v1.03....?

I just purchased 6 new Hitec 5645 servos. 5 servos have Mar 02 and 1 servo has Jan 02 V1.03. Should I send the Jan 02 v1.03 servo back for a Mar 02?
Thanks.....Scott

Default 5645

You should for one reason alone..... Why not, if they updated the servo, its for a reason, and ive heard bad things about the 5645 failures. Hope they turn out fine.

Anything with the date code of Oct 01 or later has the latest V1.03 software.

Oh really, I have no less than 15 of them in constant service. My last order was for five 5645's from Servo City. One was bad on the bench, I sent it to Hitec and less than two weeks later had it back, repaired. It is the only problem that I have had with any Hitec servo. I have three large scale planes(YA P47, Sig SU31, Sig Extra 300XS), one 60 size plane, a climb & glide glider, and an electric Zagi 400X with Hitec 555 Rx. All have Hitec servos in them and the only problem I have had was with one brand new servo that failed on the bench.

I dont have any, or will, im just responding to what people are telling me and what i read, but its enough for me to stick to JR. I love my planes too much to chance it. But im no expert, just my 2 cents

All sevos, and all electronic devices have a certain amount of failure rate. I wager that Hitec's is on average with Futaba and JR. We are only made aware of Hitec's failure rate because there are vastly more Hitec servos in operation that either of the over priced Futaba or JR servos. I all probability there likely isn't that much differance in the factories in China that produce the amplifiers for all servos.

The 5645MG is one of our best selling servos. There are litterally hundreds of thousands in the marketplace at this time.

Mike is intiitled to his opinion just like us...

My only question is why are all the stories about the servo failures so similar in description...

They all describe a servo that locks in one extreme position. Is this indictive of digital servos.

The only servo I ever had fail (Airtronics) simply stopped responding it didn't move off center or anything?

I'm just curious?

Hoping and praying I never Have an inflight servo failure

Default servo's

wasn't there some problem with them locking at high ATV's, ie over 120% or something like?

It is true that the 3-pole motors are not as durable as the coreless motors that are used in the Futaba, JR and high end Hitec digitals that is why they cost much more.

That has solved with the new V1.03 software starting that was implemented in Oct 2001.
