jr radio charging

RE: jr radio charging
billzair,
Not without reversing polarity, JR wires their charging jacks with the center pin negative rather than the more common practice of center pin positive, followed by all the other radio brands. Since you already have Futaba gear and if warantee is not an issue on the JR, it might make the most sense to rewire the charging jack on the JR Tx, then it would be compatible with your other tranys.
Good luck,
Pete

Dr1Driver,
As long as this is the only JR tranny he has it would be safer to rewire tx charge jack and put a sticker on the back to indicate not to use a JR charger, if he reverses the polarity on the charger it's just a matter of time till there's a mix up[X(]. Better to standardize on the "normal" polarity on all your equipment. OK, OK, I know that I will get beat up by the JR guy's on the "normal" polarity bit
Regards,
Pete

RE: jr radio charging
IF it's the only JR he owns, that sounds like a good idea.
"Normal" works for me. Everything else that uses pin jacks is center-positive, EXCEPT JR.

Not only is the polarity reversed from other transmitters, the Jack is a different size. The diameter of the center conductor is different so the Futaba jack will not work reliably. You can get the proper jack at radio shack however if you want to rewire your Futaba charger. Take the transmitter with you so they can give you the proper jack.

RE: jr radio charging
I switched the wires around in my Spektrum radio, which is basically a JR. The old Hobbico field charger works fine on both even with the smaller centre pin on the JR.

RE: jr radio charging
buy a set of jr charging wires from LHS. DO NOT GET INSIDE RADIO TO SWAP WIRES AROUND. buy the proper jack at radio shack and wiring it up properly is also a good way to go.
