Same as any other just pop it off. I use three antennas on Four Prism 7x's and two Eclipse 7's all with adapters. Have never experianced any detectable range reduction over stock types.

As far as I know ,it is never recommended to open your Tx with full collapsed antenna.How can you do that check with no antenna?Any harm for Tx?

The point being the adapters are installed on each radio and it is never removed. There is approximately the same amount of exposed conductor as a collapsed conventional antenna. It takes 2 seconds to pop the ant off or reinstall and range check is done exactly as any other. I have had excellent service from these antennas and will never use a conventional agine.

Years ago Hitec made a rubberduck but it screwed in and was a pain. Jr has also sold a duck but not sure of their attachment.

I really like these antennas. No range problems or any glitches.

This is my response from Smiley Antenna;
"We do not recommend a range check. However you would unscrew the antenna from the adapter"
How odd does this sound?

The antenna is not unscrewed from the adapter it is removed or reinstalled with a half twist of the the BNC connector at least I think that is what connector is called. Takes no more than 1 second to romove or 2 seconds to reinstall.

The idea of not recommending a range check is rediculous and I cannot help but think there is some miscommunication going on there. Remember the 72Mhz RC Rubber Duck is a tiny proportion of their non RC products and someone may not have even realized what you were talking about.

The range check is performed exactly as any other. The bottom line these antennas offer ranges checks measurably as good and a host of other safety as well as convienence addvantages.

I took a lot harrassment when I first started using them locally however when their advantages become clear their are six others locally using them, some on multiple transmitters. None of the arguments of the naysayers have been born out like reduced range or wearing out the connector.

I use them with as much confidence on my 160 mph pylon airplanes as I do my 15 mph old timers. I will never use a conventional agine.

John, I get the same thing at my field but I am 100% confident that it's a great antenna so it's of no concern to me. They don't know what they are missing. I will never go back.
