Default Newbie to RC and radios

Hi All,

I am very new to this hobby and based on some people suggestion i bought the futaba 6xa computer 3 model radio.
Now i am just perplexed by so many options in it. I am not understanding any of the settings that has to be done for a plane.
Please if somebody could explain to me how each of the stuff in the radio(for example Dual Rate, trim knobs, percentages etc) works that would be great. I am using the radio for my first plane which is GWS Tiger Moth, so if you could explain in relation to this plane settings i would appreciate that.

FYI i crashed my TM after i flipped my elevator D/R switch and i am not sure what it is used for. One of the people in the field did basic setup for my radio.

Thanks in advance.

kash

Kash:

Reset the transmitter to its "Default" settings.

Use only servo reversing on any channels that work backwards. Don't use anything else on the transmitter.

Adjust servo arms and control horns to get the recommended throws set.

Then fly the plane and enjoy it.

Then, and only then, if you find the plane too touchy you can set up your dual rates.

Actually, the book is pretty clear about dual rates, set low rates to 50-60% of full travel before flying, and start on low rates.

ATV, Mixes, etc. - leave these for later.

With twins mixes are great,
. but they're a little much for a newbie's plate.

Bill.

WR said it best. You have the potential to unlock a lot of great things with this radio, but for now, and especially with the Tigermoth (I love mine too) all you need to do is set up everything stock. You'll really be able to start using some of the great features if and when you move into a 'full house' aircraft with ailerons.

6xa is not the complete designator, probably why you had troube finding it.

Fly your twin with Futaba gear,
. you'll not be the one bringing up the rear.

6xa is the older version, replaced with the 6xas.
