Default Servo Repair - positioner?

Hi

I have GWS S666N servos for the steering on my 1/5th scale buggy. I have 2 damaged, so tried to get 1 good one.
I found the gear problem and swapped it. When I power the servo it drives all the way to one side and that it. No response to the Tx.
I have checked the positioner, it can only rotate part circle so the output gear can only go on one way.

What to try next?
Maybe it was an electronic problem that caused the servo to drive over and strip the gear in the first place. I thought it was just that the servo saver was jammed and did not work.

Thanks Jeff
