HS 55 Servo for Gas Throttle
Hi
I have a Hi Tech HS 55 Servo and I was wondering if it is considered a micro servo or a smaller nano servo. The guy at the hobby shop said I could use a micro for the throttle on my 46 size nitro plane, but not, as he put it, a super micro servo.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Whatever you care to call it I feel an HS-55 is much to small to use on throttle in an airplane of that size. Normally I will use a HS-85 in that application.
The problem is first unless you get the throttle linkage, end points etc just right it can be easily stripped. Second problem is the output arms are tiny and using the typical type pushrod connections for that size airplane, easy justs, S bends, ninety degree bends or clevis is just not going to fit.

Can you say "runaway gasser"? Don't use a servo that can easily fail for this function. At minimum, use a sport digital - better yet, use a fast digital. Good resolution gives much better throttle control. The above is as always, just an opinion.
