Ham Ticket..
I was WB5TJU about 30 years ago...all I ever did was CW. Back then I had to go to Dallas to get my General, so I let my ticket expire. I still have some WN5TJU QSL cards left, I was given a "B" when they dropped the "N"...never got to talk on one.. My dad is WB5UGP, but all he does is 2meter, his tower blew down some years back and he lost all his low band antenna.
I see my old call sign isn't taken...maybe I'll get it back.

Hey Chuck,
From what I understand they hold your call for 10 years. You could check at the FCC website.
Maybe we could post a link to the ARRL if anyone is interested in getting a Ham ticket.
Try this:
www.arrl.org/

This is a bit off topic but i'd like to set the record straight.
The call is good for 10 years.
You must re-new within 90 days before it expires.
If you don't you can no longer go on the air but you have a 2 year grace period.
After that 2 years are up FCC considers you GONE and anyone can take the call.
If this is the case you must now be retested
If you need more info/help, please E mail me direct as this is off topic.

Search Again:
If you have the correct info for KBOAHC, you can add it to our database
you are a bootlegger and using a non issued call.
Your call is not in the QRZ data base and I will do a FCC search on it

Take a look again pal. I earned my tech liscense April 14, 1987 and it was renewed in 1997. It is good until April 14. 2007. Who made you the chief of police for RCU.

OK but you better learn the difference between a number zero and the letter O.
I did a copy and paste on the call that you posted and you used a letter O instead of a number * ZERO*
BTW,
If you want to talk about ham radio then go to www.qsl.net and select any topic you want.

ham info
Vegas:
I did take the harder test in 1987 with the Morris code. Looks like you did not.
IMHO, this IS the forum to talk about the effects of 53 and 50 mhz as it pertains to the safe flying of R/C models. There are many pilots around the country that have taken the test and fly R/C on a ham band. This is the place. I agree it is not the forum to talk about ham information and equipment that does not pertain to R/C.
BTW, I don't think your computer can distinguidh between an o and a zero.

You come back with smart remarks and this is not a ham radio forum.
I suggest you contact the admin of the RCU and ask him.
Go to www.qsl.net

Reply,
Not quite right w'Bird. Radio Control of model airplanes was originally DEVELOPED by amateur Radio operators.
From QST :
"Walter A. Good, W3NPS, SK: Walter A. Good, W3NPS, of Port Richey, Florida, died July 20. He was 86 and an ARRL member. A physicist, Good specialized in missile control systems and won awards for his work. During his 35 years on the staff of the Applied Physics Lab at Johns Hopkins University, he was part of the team that developed the proximity fuse. He later developed early analog computers to simulate missile dynamics. Good was a fellow and life member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics and served as its 11th president. He held several patents and authored an impressive range of technical articles for professional journals and reference books. In addition, Good wrote "Radio Control of Model Aircraft" and "Receivers for Radio-Controlled Models," which appeared in the August and September 1951 issues of QST, respectively. His twin brother Bill, W2CVI, died in May 2001. Survivors include his wife, Joyce, and son, Terry. A memorial service is scheduled for August 22 at St Mark Presbyterian Church in Huron, Florida.--information submitted by Ralph Robinson, W5FDF "
...... The Good brothers are credited also for inventing the hobby of radio control aircraft for indivduals. In fact early RCers were required by law to have a ham ticket .
They will be missed.

What she said...
I didn't post after WB first warning, and he then went on to post several more times...
And Ladyflyer..
I was 11 I think when I got my ticket..it's been lapsed by way more than 10 years. Shortly after getting it, my interests strayed from things RF
But I passed the Advanced test back when I was in school just to get the professor off my back (he was a big-time Extra class), just never turned it in...

No problem,
I;m working on a wing here and lowered the dihedral down from 2" ` to only a half inch.
Should make it roll a bit faster and zip up the turns a bit.
Happy flying and building.
