RE: Rubber Ducky - range check
Yes as Ejiro indicated just pop the antenna off and walk just like a telescoping antenna. I have found that antenna off or colapsed range checks on Futaba 7C, Hitec Eclipse or Prism 7X's are about the same with the telescopic or the Smiley.
One interesting tidbit that is offered just as trivia, there are five avaliable colors and I have used all but the 'pink' - The yellow antenna is more flexible and tends to a bit more droppy than the black, red, or blue. this is no real issue.

Thanks for the answers, I'll test (and use) my Smiley-Airtronics combo this weekend. I put the light Blue color... they are a bit longer than expected

How long a transmitter can handle without any portion of antenna up while power is on?

There is some exposed radiating surface when the antenna is removed and it somewhat approximates a collapsed telescopic. So the question becomes how long can your tx handel power on and telecopic antenna retracted?

I was meaning how Tx can handle that electronically overloading which manuals refer (not to get on power without any portion of antenna open too.).I think a circuit in Tx getting loaded without antenna.
