Default Any problems with Hitec hs 475hb servos?

Good day

I have just completed a Great Planes PT17. I installed Hitec hs475hb servos for the elevators and the rudder/tail wheel. Now I have been reading posts that the karbonite gears have been failing in Hitecs hs635hb servos. They also have the karbonite gears. So, has anyone had any problems with the 475's?
Any help would be appreciated.

Regards
Todd

I cant answer your question, but in my opinion, I wouldnt use ANY karbonite gear servo. I have eight 635's sitting on the shelf trying to figure out what to do with them.

The rule on Karbonite geared servos is they are fine in models up to 12lbs using one per surface.

Edwin- So now you know what to do with them.

I've been using HS475HB servos in several (40-60 sized planes) for over a year and not had a single problem.

They only downside of these servos is that they're a bit slow (for my liking) but use a 5-cell receiver pack and they're fast enough for sport-type models.

Karbonite is a very brittle material that doesn't like sudden shocks or excessive vibration but it's okay.

I have had HS-635's in forty size profile #D type airplanes for a couple of years now and love'em. I finally broke one I think because it wouldn't center worth a darn so I replaced it but it still has good feeling gears inside, so i must of wrecked something else inside!

I love them and will continue to use them on 40 size stuff,
Dave
