Default Beginner needs help.

I recently bought from a friend a couple of old planes with radios and chargers. This friend was not into RC but his stepdad who recently died was. The immediate problem that I have is with the electronics of one of the planes. The plane is a J3 Piper and is equipped with Airtronics receiver and servos. The radio is also an Airtronics that we think goes with this plane. The transmitter is an Airtronics SR Series and the receiver is a 92262 72 band AM balanced mixer. The crystal in the radio reads that it is 72.630. I have checked the power supply and all things seem to power up but for some reason I can't get the radio to operate the servos. What am I doing wrong? What kind of checks can I perform? What voltage should I be reading at the servo plug. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Kyle
