Default Futaba 3pm opinions?

I am looking to buy a little bit nicer radio for my boat... I have two JR Pythons that came stock with my boats, but they are both 27 mhz AM radios, so I can't run at the same time. I know I could just get new crystals for 15 bucks, but I would rather just upgrade one of the boats and sell the spare radio. I see that the futaba 3PM's go pretty cheap on ebay for just the radio and rx, ( I already have nice servos) and I was just wondering if this is a decent radio, or should I turn my attention elsewhere? I am just looking for a small upgrade, nothing too fancy... I just need good dependable range in a frequency other than 27 mhz am

Thanks!
