Default Hitec HS645MG..or Futaba S3305 servos, whats your experience with each?

I have long been a user of Hitec HS645MG servos in my planes, but have recently become aware of a very similar performance in the Futaba S3305, and it appears to be available at a slightly reduced cost. There are some differences between the two. Before I make a purchase of a dozen of one of these servos,...which one do you use? Have you used both? Any failures or questionable performance issues? Lets hear from the users.
Thanks.

I have the 645's in a 1/4 scale gasser I bought used. I have the 3305's in a Funtana 90 I put together.

Both seem to work okay, but I recently had to change one of the 645's on an aileron of the 1/4 scale due to excessive gear slop/centering issues. The 645's are well above the specs for the 1/4 scale and it has not been flown as much as the Funtana. The Funtana has much larger ailerons with a history of aileron flutter if the servos/linkages are not tight with the appropriate geometry. The 3305's on the Funtana have been working without a hitch so far and it's been flown quite a bit.

A lot of guys use the Hitecs, but I'm kind of a Futaba guy anyway and have only bought Hitecs for my foamies to this point.

Sort of a question about Ford, Chevy, or Dodge and which do you prefer I guess...

I have used the Futaba S-3305 servos in aircraft applications in 2 different planes now, without so much as a hicup! One is my 60 size ultra-stick with a Saito 1.00 four stroke. (i used them everywhere but the throttle) and use 6 volt nicad 1200mah pack. The second one is a Sig Mayhem 3-d arf kit with a Saito 1.20 size four stroke engine..... I used all s3305 as well. (except throttle) in this bird, I use a 2000 mah lipo 2cell which has 7.4 volt output which i use an MPI regulator down to 6 volts too. This bird has also preformed fabulously without a glitch and come to find out Futaba only recomends the use of these servos with NICAD batteries....... Anyone Know why????? Ive not had a problem, this is my 3rd season using the setup in the Mayhem??? Thanks in advance... S.G. in Rockford Il.

Previous thread Futaba S-3305 - use NiCd not MiMH. Most NiMH have higher internal resistance and can not deliver current S-3005 requires to operate at listed specs under load, especially on 4.8v . If using NiMH, use a 5cell pack.

That typo is contradicted by their Greatplanes Performance Series Aircraft advertising.

Futaba makes the servo, not Great Planes. Maybe GP has the typo.
