Default Servo question

I need to get more "flip" from my heli....One thing I have been told is that faster Servos are a way to speed up my cyclic response. Sounds good, so I looked at a few Servos. I want to stay with a 4.8 pack so my research has led to:

Current servos:
JR DS811. Speed: .18. Torque: 54oz
Looking at:
Futaba 9252. Speed: .14. Torque: 92oz.

.18 compared to .14 does not seem to be much..... .04 of a second?

I am tempted to show up at my LHS and put a DS811 and a 9252 on the same channel of a RX and see how much faster it really is.

It will be a few days before I can run my little experiment.....Anyone wanna give me some advice or ideas?

Try the Hitec HS6965HB, it will do 0.08 seconds on 6V and 0.10 on 4.8V

I have the metal-geared version of these servos on one of my planes and they are *wicked* fast and very torquey!

Thanks...According to Tower, they are discontinued. Looked at some other Hitecs....I'll post what I find when my LHS test gets done.

If you look only the specs, the 9252 is only slightly faster but in the real world with some load, the servo that has more torque will have significantly more speed.

I have flown a Funtana (the white one) with those 9252s and was quite impressed of the accuracy and speed especially on those HUGE ailerons.

Now the Hitec 6975s may be even better as they have more torque and speed than the 9252s.

Hi

You can test you servo capacity with a servo tester that could measure the amount of power the servo needs to work. I have found one of those on www.rc-devices.com. With this servo tester i can measured the amount of energy the servo needs to move so i can see if the servo is overloaded or not.
