Jr 8103?
Hi,
Bought an 8103 a few months ago. Great radio. My 347 was full and planes left over. I think the programing is a lot easier and love the digital trims. Can't think of a single thing to complain about.

I bought an 8103 early last year and loved it so much I bought another one two months later!
Told the wife I needed another receiver and servos anyway, so might as well get the whole thing, yes?
I would be quite surprised if you didn't love it. I'd give it a nine (9) on a ten (10) scale.

I bought mine about 6mo after they came out and am still using the same battery in it (yes I am monitoring the usage to see if it is going down) .
The only problem I have had with is is the case I WAS using to carry it caused the handle on the back of the radio to crack the case where it is mounted about a year ago.
I now have a second one as a back up for giant scale racing.
I have converted quite a few over o JR by the ease of programing over the years.
I also on a regular basis get a better range check distance than most Futaba and seem to have no glitching problems (I know that will start the cycle now).
Take care Jim

I've had mine for six years, great radio and I found it user friendly. Chief Aircraft (www.chiefaircraft.com)has them with 4 digital servos for only $380, a steal! Look on their specials page!

I make sure that the battery comes up all the way and that it is not dropping quickly.
BTW I use the reverse pulse type charger (Sirius) and feel that this is a big part of why it is still going strong, also I am only field charging all my stuff.
Take care Jim

I've had a 8103 for not quite a year. For what I fly its more than enough radio. Great for my aerobatic planes and lots of features for gliders. I don't see a need for more than 8 channels in my R/C future.
The first thing I did to improve it was to replace the battery. I removed the stock nicad and replaced it with a 1650ma NiMh. I can get several flights in and the battery just barely gets into the 10.8v range.
I've started flying some gliders and can see where a larger battery capacity could come in handy.

Great except...
I bought mine about 3 years ago when the Digital Trim first came out. A little over a year and my lithium battery went out. It's supposed to last around 5 years. I called horizon and they said since it's been more than a year they would not replace it for free. This really bothered me. I still haven't replaced it but know that I need to. Other then that, I really like it.

The Chief Deal just arrived last week. Only drawback is it comes with a 7 ch. receiver in their promo pak, but it does have the new digital servos too. I looked at and have owned three of the F products and went with this. Fantastic gimbles, beautiful display and they kept the throttle trim analog. I like that too.
I can't see how you can go wrong with this system. EASY programing too.

Jessdog,
If your lithium battery went out, how can you still keep using your transmitter. It will have to be reprogrammed every time you turn it off? My lithium battery in my 347 lasted a little over 10 years. I had it replaced a few months ago by a local R/C tech. It only cost about $25. You must have a local tech that does R/C? NO?

Hi bob,
That's what's kinda wierd. I've only had the settings erase once. The little "L" on the display always shows but it seems as though it still has some life. But you are correct, I do have to re-input everything when it looses memory. Yeah, I've gotta find someone local to do it.
