I'm thinking of going with JR radio, but I have two questions:
I think I'm gonna go with the JR XP 662, but I had a few questions:
1. It's not a PCM. Is PCM an important feature to have?
2. I have Futaba servos. Can they be used with a JR receiver?
3. Are there any other compatibility issues I should know of?

I'm thinking of going with JR radio, but I have two questions:
1) PCM is not really very important. PCM hides glitches, and in a gasoline powered (spark) engine, there can be some glitches.
2) modern futaba servos are compatible with modern JR receivers
3) your electrical support equipment gets more complicated if you have multiple brands due to the different plugs. JR uses a phone-jack type of connector for the transmitter and the outer conductor is positive. This is sort of backwards to other manufacturers. So your field chargers, volt meters, bettery cyclers, must have adaptors. You can simplify your life if you buy onjly one brand

I'm thinking of going with JR radio, but I have two questions:
Actually, the JR 662 will support FM PPM, Z PCM and S PCM. It is selectable in the programing.
The basic system comes with an FM receiver but if you purchase a JR pcm receiver you can go with pcm.
As far as FM use, the receivers are many to choose from. Not only JR but Airtronics. Hitec, and FMA Direct all make JR compatible.
As far as JR deals now going on. You might want to check out Chief Aircraft's deal on the 8103 promo. Comes with 7 ch receiver and 4 digital 811 servos for $379.95 delivered. Just got mine and it's impressive. I was going to get the 378 until I heard about this.
BTW I use FMA, JR, GWS and Futaba servos with JR and Futaba systems.
The flexibility of the 8103 is more than I thought. I had a Futaba 6XAs and dumped it because I quickly outgrew the limited flexibility. In many ways, the 8103 is more versitile than even the Futaba 9C.

If you can get the 8103 at Chief, go for it, you wont be dissapointed, I just got the 378, and I love it, It feels good in your hands, and it does more than Ill need for a while. Both the 378 and 8103 are PCM capable, If you know that your going to be doing this for a while, id go with a more "advanced" radio.

I'm thinking of going with JR radio, but I have two questions:
I am real happy with the 8103 I've got.
Its got all the mixes I will ever need.
It will fly my sailplanes (one of the few radios that does a good crow mix) and has enough mixing for a very testy "80 Sukhoi with ganged servos. If I decide to get into helis it has that too.
Now that I am getting alot of programming and 7 different models in its memory, I am glad that it works with the Datasafe.
IF budget is a problem, get the Cheif deal then sell the Digitals on the classified adds here.
