Would you like a Spektrum manufacturer support forum?
Since there are more of these radios showing up now that the DX-7 has been introduced and there seems to be lots of questions, would you like to see a manufacturer support forum for these radios?
If there is support among the RCU community for such a forum, who/how would we go about getting the honchos at Horizon to set one up?
Any of you moderators got any pull with Horizon?

Whats wrong with the current forum? Danny will likely be the support
contact no matter what you name the fourm.

When it is time, a separate forum will appear ------ for the moment things are working just fine.
From Spektrum's point of view I don't see where that would do anything for them ------ or for the customer/user who is being answered quite adequately right now.

I don't think it's appropriate to saddle Danny with this as it's not his responsibility as of right now.
The other part is that while I'm no expert on these new radios I have been doing some research on them and it's become evident that there are questions I'd like answered by someone who knows, rather than the members of the "presence" who think they know. I was just wondering if any other folks felt as I do about the lack of "official" information.
If you don't think it's needed, that's why I put it up as a poll, maybe I'm guessing wrong about the desires of other members but so far it doesn't look that way.

Zeeb,
With 88% for a new support forum and only 11% wanting to do it like it always has been done, it should fly. The issue is getting the manufacture to support the idea. If we never made improvements, we would still be flying rubberband powered escaptment controlled, rudder only RC planes.

I disagree with you onewasp. I'm still waiting for a reply from Spektrum to the Display Issues I have seen with my DX7. As a customer I can say Spektrum has not addressed my concerns yet. Yes, I have emailed them directly and no, I do not have a reply from them yet.
Best regards,
Cal

Well right now Danny is occasionally answering a few questions, and maybe Horizon would ask him to cover the Spektrum stuff. As of now and it has been repeated quite a few times, Danny is the JR guy and while JR does provide some parts for the Spektrums, they are not the same company...
I don't think it's appropriate to saddle Danny with this as it's not his responsibility as of right now.

by JR and Spektrum is just a marketing name that Horizon uses for the
radio. also Horizon is the sole importer of JR radios for the U.S. market
and they are responsible for service and support of JR radios in the U.S.
market. so it only stands to reason they will also support the Spektrum
radio that they also import from JR.
When you think of it Danny works for Horizon I doubt they would want to
hire another person just to support what is essentially is the same radio
however im sure Horizon will do what is best for them.
I dont think the Spektrum radio is made in two different factorys one in
Japan and the other in the U.S. if im wrong im sure Horizon can come
on here and clear thing up.

Just after I made my last post I read the post from Danny that states that
the Spektrum radios or made overseas just as i expected, he did say
they have some U.S. parts in them i would not be surprised if the some
of the JR radios have U.S. parts as well.

ira d,
the DX6 / DX7 is part JR Propo radio and part Spektrum RF Module. The US components are the 2.4 GHz RF section.

Are you telling me Horizon has a factory in the U.S. that makes the RF section and then
ships them to JR to install in the radio while they are being made, if so wonder why
Danny does not simply say so.
Since im not a fly on the wall where the radios are made I really cant say for sure what
you say is not true but to have sub assemblies crossing the pond twice and the labor
involved seems like an expensive way to make a radio.
In any case I dont have anything against the radio I think it is a nice unit I just dont see
why Horizon is going so far to try to deny the involvement of JR in the radio.

He did:
"I have not been on the forums here since last Friday. Spektrum is made with US and overseas components, and assembled overseas."
