Default Airtronics Spectra 7 PCM Manual

I am looking for a manual for an late 80s Airtronics Spectra 7-channel PCM radio. I bought it new, have the manual somewhere but just moved and it's buried somewhere in a box in storage. After many internet searches I found a few requests for the heli version manual but not the aircraft one. Don't suppose anyone has one do they?

Thanks in advance

Kurt

Have you called Airtronics? They may still have one. They have a solid reputation for being helpful as well.

I have one of those radios. PCM airplane version. I still use the radio and the manual. I would rather not part with the manual
but could copy all, or the pages you need. I don't recall how many pages it has.

I bought mine in 1984 so manual should be the same. It has been a very good radio, and I still use it continually even though I
own much newer computer stuff. I started with Kraft when we didn't even have servo reversing.

I recall checking Airtronics site when looking for replacement battery pack and they did not list either one.

Hope this helps!

Excellent, thank you. I just PM'd you with my address.

I can relate to the old Kraft stuff. My dad started me off in this hobby when I was 13 with a Kraft Series 77 5-channel. If the servo didn't move the right direction you searched through your stash until you found a reverse servo and used that instead! Good stuff.

Thanks

Kurt

Hello Silent Flight,

I have an airtronic spectra pcm 7 sp7p. I wonder if you could tell me where I could buy a battery pack. I need the whole unit.
I called Airtonics and they said good luck. I am following up on what ever link I can find to this radio in order to find a pack. even a dead pack would work I could replace the batteries. Thanks for any help you can me in this matter.

Best Regards,
George

If your battery pack is not damaged, and only needs new cells, take it to a local battery store if you have one nearby. I had my Spectra pack redone at Batteries Plus. Cost about $35 bucks. The connectors were corroded, so I replaced the connector with a modified Futaba in the transmitter and on the battery pack, and I just tuck the pigtail into the transmitter case, into the hole where the stock connector was, before I removed it. You'll need to solder two wires into the transmitter, but works fine. Watch the polarity! I think I had to switch the red and black leads. Looks like you got your manual problem solved, right?

If I understand correctly you need the entire pack (rectangle case the batteries are in) That will be a bit more difficult as Airtronics has not carried them for a long time. If I recall at the time the Spectra was around they also had a system called Module which I think was one step below the Spectra. I think it used the same pack. Someone has to have a junk one around. As for the batteries in the case,
they are just 2 rectangluler 4 cell AA. If you open it carefully it is very easy to replace the 2 packs I have done it twice. I have some old Airtronics catalogs so will check which models used that particular pack. Hope this helps!

Just a thought, call Pete Waters at Kraft Midwest he mat be able to help.

I see that on Oct. 1/2007 you posted that you are able to provide a copy of the User Manual for the Airtronics Spectra PCM 7. I myself now need a copy of that manual and I am wondering if you are still able to provide a copy, for me now. Thank you.

I have a Spectra manual also - but that seems to be well taken care of.
However, I do hae some things not mentioned: Airtronics Spectra 92985 PCM receivers, in
first class condition. $20 shipped. Some crystals, both Tx and Rx, I may be able to match your needs.

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure what you mean about the manual when you say "but that seems to be well taken care of", perhaps the (unnecessary) words 'also' and 'but' in the first sentence confuse me. I don't need to deprive you of your actual Spectra manual, they apparently are quite rare, simply a copy (e-mail, pdf, etc.,) would be more than adequate for me; can you tell me what the price would be? I live up in Canada (postal code S3N 2L4) and I actually may be needing a 92985 PCM Spectra Airtronics receiver, I would not need a crystal with it as I already have one, so I don't know if that changes the price; does that $20 price cover shipping to me here up in Canada? Thank you.

This is a long shot considering how old your post is, but if you are still able to email the manual for the Airtronics Spectra I would appreciate it.
