RE: New Futaba 12FG radio
I spoke to a Futaba rep this morning about the 12FG. He could not confirm when or if it will be available in the US.
According to him, if it is sold in the states, It will likely be introduced as a 72Mhz radio, followed by a spektrum version or upgrade.
However, he emphasized that it has not been decided wether to sell it here or not.

RE: New Futaba 12FG radio
Hi Doug,
I have spoken to our reps who answer the phone here. One rep did say he had a call from a consumer about this, but that he could not give any information because this is not an item we sell or service here in the United States.
He stressed to me that he never mentioned anything to the consumer he spoke with about what frequencies would be available, as he would not have access to this information.
If you heard this information from another source, please refer them to our support department for clarification on this matter.
I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support team at 217-398-8970 opt 2, or via fax at 217-398-7721.
Sincerely,

RE: New Futaba 12FG radio
Hi Krysta,
That was me! I called a friend of mine that owns a rather large hobby shop and is a Futaba distributor. That is where I got the information about the frequencies and spectrum possibiltities. (just rumors?) Like I said, he did emphasize that it is not available here and he couldn't say if or when it would be available.
After I got off the phone with him, I called Futaba Support to try and find out more. The man I spoke to was very courteous. He told me that he had no knowledge of the 12FG because it is not sold here in the states. He told me to stay tuned to the Futaba and Tower hobbies website for updates on new Futaba products.
I am ready to purchase a new radio. Since I have flown Futaba for 29 years, I want to stick with them. In that 29 years, I have only had one problem, I bought some digital servos and one of them did not work. No problem, the hobby shop exchanged it for a good one. That is a phenomenal track record!
Currently, I am flying with a 9CHP. I love it! But, my next big project is a scale jet that I will need at least 11 channels for. I would love a 12Z, but I really don't want to spend $1299.00 on a radio without servos. I wouldn't mind spending $999.00 on a new radio. but, the $1300.00 is just out of the question. I can't bring myself to spend that much on a radio right now.
Doug
P.S. So...When can I buy my 12FG?

RE: New Futaba 12FG radio
Krysta........We have to get this 12fg to the states. There are alot of us good ol boys who have normal jobs an take care of our familys an still have a few coins to throw at this addiction. I mean hobby. Even though we don't have PHD's an drive 60,000$ cars we still like to have the best controling our models, That is of course a futaba 9CAP for me. Its a great radio,But there will be a day i need to upgrade. The 12fg looks like it would be perfect, Its not the 12z i Know. But not all of us need a 52 inch color plasma screen on the bottom of our tx.Some of us don't need the syn module, cause we now what channel we want to run on. I'm sure its missing a few more bells as well. But the 12fg forsure has a place in the states. Be great if,or when it comes over here if we could get our hands on it for less than a grand. The price hike from the 9C to the 12ZA makes me go crosseyed looking at it sometimes. Any how try to get that thing to the states, Then put me at the top of the list for one.

RE: New Futaba 12FG radio
Here in the US, It's Spektrum in the lead. Futaba is closing in fast and about to overtake Spektrum. JR is keeping a steady pace in third and Airtronics is on the side of the track eating grass.

RE: New Futaba 12FG radio
Futaba 12 FG is basically a repackaged 12Z: instead of G3 receiver 5014DPS (12Z) there is 149DP (12FG). So 12FG has 8+1 channels, not 12. 12FG also comes without all G3 enhancements (until you buy a G3 receiver).
In addition there are some cosmetic changes like one dial less, two sliders in front (not back) of TX, smaller display with two buttons less etc.
Glad I managed to a 12Z before the importer replaced it with 12 FG in Europe.

Do you have any factual information on this, or desired results? Everything I've read on other threads indicates Futaba as, well as you put it, on the side eating grass with Airtronics.......... Greg

Equipment wise Spektrum are far ahead in sales, technologically Futaba is ahead. The test will be the first to get a high channel count transmitter / receiver out. The technology wont bother most buyers yet.
good luck

Lucky you! Someday the 12z/fg will replace my 9z Do you have any info on price? I think many of us are expecting it as the 9C replacement, especially since there is such a price gap between the 9c and 12z.
Thanks!
BTW for those mentioning the price gap, there has always been a large one between the 9c and 9z also. The 9z only, was like $850, the synthesized module $150. If you add the G3 RX at $339 (I know it won't work w/ the 9z but this is for comparison), well that puts it pretty close to the 12z price.

RE: New Futaba 12FG radio
Street prices in Europe:
12Z set w. 5014DPS RX (no servos) 1100 Euros
12FG w. 149 DP RX (no servos) 900 Euros (this will probably get lower as originally 12Z price was 1550 Euros)
5014DPS RX 230 Euros
All am. prices include VAT 19%, 1 Euro is appr. 1.3 USD. So prices above converted to dollars appr:
12Z set w. 5014DPS RX (no servos) 1200 USD
12FG w. 149 DP RX (no servos) 980 USD
5014DPS RX 250 USD
So pricewise it makes sense to by a 12FG and 5014DPS instead of 12Z as you get a 149DP for 30 USD.
However I do not like 149DP any more after using 5014DPS.
BTW 12Z and 12FG set contains TX, LiIon TX battery, NiCd RX battery, HD switch, chargers for both RX and TX, DSC cord, Al TX case and neck strap.
CF card had to be bought separately (20 Euros for 512 Mb). Only 1000+ models fit in memory of CF cards.
