Default A new 10 channel Spektrum radio!!!

I just heard something today about Spektrum about to announce a new release....a ten channel 2.4 ghz radio. This comes from a usually reliable source, but no specific time frame is being mentioned.
Has anyone else heard of this....are there any more details available at this time?

CJ

Only that I heard that the next announcement would be made at the Chicago Show (early fall 2007) and that it would be a 9 (or better).
I had also heard that it will use the 9303 style of programming (perhaps in the 10X case) but with the roller instead of the touch screen.

If so, I'm in!
I loved my 10X, the feel is "the best I have ever experienced" ----. I haven't been using any more than 6 or 7 but I do like extreme quality and all the DX7 Rx's should still work. Still love my DX7 however!

I think we're dealing with "intelligent rumor" ----if you would allow me that distinction.

When I spoke to a rep at the AMA convention, I asked if they had a 9 or better in the works. He said yes but would not give any info on the exact number of channels or release date. I am close to buying a Spectrum, and would really love to have it before July for the west coast scale masters qualifiers. I'd hate to buy a 7 only to see a 9 or 10 come out a couple of months later.

Capt Jim,
This will be a marketing decision, not a technical one. The work has already been done. Sticking a DX-7 in a nicer wrapper with a couple extra channels to justify the bigger price tag isn't rocket science. It will happen soon. My guess is that the radio is ready and they are just waiting for the next big opportunity to release it with for maxium ecposure.

Regards, Dave

Well they better hurry I have been a 15 year JR pilot and I have had a 10X almost since its inception about 8 years ago. I have had money put away for a new JR flagship radio since the MZ series came out. If they make a 10X/9303 variant with Spektrum in it may money is going to be spent. My money is getting real hot in my pocket so JR/Spektrum better show me something to spend it on and fast!!! I have a DX7, but it SURE ain't no 10X.

I don't know what every is so memorized about a 9303's scroll wheel for. The 10X code system touch screen RULES!!!!!!! After 8 years I have the code to everything memorized!!! No user interface is as quick and easy. NONE.

I would bet money that we see the DX9 at Toledo. I know that prototypes have been seen flying out at fields, and getting one to market would be a pretty easy feat from a technical standpoint. It's one of those "duh" things. They've got them, Toledo is the big show where thigns come out, and it's at the beginning of the season. It all makes sense.

Would you share with us how you "know" prototypes have been seen? And the sources of that information?

Sure, there's been posts on various sites from people who have seen the team pilots flying them. Have I seen it, no, but I trust that not everyone is a liar. Do a search on here and elsewhere, it's not privileged info. Toledo is in April.

Would you PM me a link, or pointer?
This is terrific news, no doubt.

They come out with a 9303 with in a Spectrum that might just be enough to get me to give up on Futaba (well for transmitters and recievers anyways)

weel--it looks like the other shoe has dropped -
in a couple of months -- a 2.4 update for many JR and some Futabas will be available
So check wif your favorite hobby shop and get in line for yors -
From the info I have the module and rx
it will NOT be from Futaba -
it will not be from JR -
But it is well proven and there are many models flying with very similar systems --
OK
Who can it be???????????

Come on Dick, speak up. It's like the company is intentionally leaking out info to people to generate a buzz. I know what he's talking about and if he doesn't spill the beans, it'll become obvious soon enough.

Well, another site has a news flash that it will be Spektrum releasing a module for the JR radios.

I saw it at www.teamflyingcirkus.com

So what happened to the thing about too much latency for a module system to work?

I love the fact that 6 months ago you hardly ever heard anyone mention "latency". Now it is the primary criterion by which we will measure all future radios.

yes - it is Spektrum -
basically plug in module -add antenna (replace your existing one) and treat it as the current DX7- (Bind the tx to the rx)

I am not speaking for Spektrum !-so any questions about which current TX models can be updated - prices variations etc., will have to be answered by them -
Time frame?
reported to start no earlier than early April again check with the sales outlets you will be buying from. I simply don't know any release dates -
as for latency - The lag in response - you may have never heard of it but it has existed for a loooong time and I personally don't expect that this system will improve any given tx. Some tx have horrible lag when you couple two channels .
That's why I am sticking with the DX7--it has propriatory electronics which don't include the stuff required in the non Spektrum TX.

Yup, that's what's coming. I was told that specifically by John Adams, Engineering Manager at Horizon. Kinda funny, I didn't really know about it until he got on me about a post I made elsewhere and told me. He didn't tell me about JR modules, but did say that there are Futaba modules.

My initial reaction was disappointed that I sold my 9z, but after thinking about it, I came to the same conclusion as Dick. I'm very happy with the DX7, and speed wise it blows away my 9z. When they get the DX9 out in April for Toledo, I'll be picking one of those up and keeping the DX7 as a backup. Actually, thinking about it, I'd wager we'll see the DX9 announced tomorrow. I always thought it would be Toledo, but in light of this info coming out, they'll probably do a big roll out tomorrow. Better call the LHS and have them put the DX9 on backorder.

(Best old man voice) Back in my day, our radios had 120ms of latency, and we had to use frequency pins. You kids don't know how good you have it!

It is funny, but just like I noticed the 14mz was faster the one time I got to play with one, so is the DX7. I doubt it makes me fly any better, but it makes a guy feel cool. [8D]

I only confirmed a release I saw on a different site -- and I wo't say more -but as long as the cat was out of the bag I thought my two bits worth would perhaps clear up any questions as to who really was the 800 lb gorilla in this arena.
Did anyone really expect someone else to do an end run ??
