I am thinking of picking one of these up for a gasser. How is it's reliability over a dual conversion receiver?

For 200 dollars, if it's not a dual conversion receiver I would find a gun and shoot JR marketing =) Can't find the specs on it, but it'd have to be dual conversion for that price, simply no if and's or buts about it. I would never pay this much money for a receiver, you can matchbox on fewer channels. Even if I had the money to just buy something like that on a whim I could NEVER justify it. You could build a receiver with a microcontroller on it with full mixing abilities, totally customized for that price.

I love it when the first guy to step up with an opinion doesn't know much about the subject. I've been flying JR equipment for years with a side trip to give some other brands a try that had DC receivers. Guess which ones gave me problems. Yup, the other guys. The 955 is the same basic receiver as the old 950 only using Surface Mount Technology which is supposedly more reliable. Go to www.bergent.net for a good comparison of SC and DC receivers. Much better than the hype the maketing folks throw out to sell systems. By the way, I believe the 9 channel DC receiver that Futaba sells is $180 and it doesn't have a microcontroller or full mixing or full customization or any of that stuff and I've had two of those eat airplanes. Hmmmm, now there's a good place for a bullet. Go get the 955.

The best single conversion RX have ever seen is the R955. It outperforms any other single conversions have ever seen, and most dual conversions too.
The best Dual Conversion is the R945. I get about 5 dB lower with the R945 than with anything else made. It is the only receiver I have seen better than the R955
R945, R955 -- both incredible receivers.

JLB,
Take it easy on Lynx. He just needs to educate himself with the Peter Berg article in the web site.
