Default Does the RD 8000 have dual rates for rudder?

I can't seem to find much info on the new Airtronics RD 8000. Looking for an affordable ($250) computer radio that has dual rates on elevator, aileron, and rudder. What can you tell me?

Default dual rates

I didn't say that I could get an 8000 for $250. I know the Hitec Eclipse 7 has dual rates on all three axis, but was asking if there was anthing else in the $250+/- range that had dual rates on all three axis.

Default That makes sense

I misunderstood the post, sorry. Just bargain hunting.

Did you find out if it has 3 channel D/R ?

This does seem to be quite a bargain for the money as it does not have the 102 servo's. I'm looking forward to getting the radio as soon as they start shipping. I will report back here as soon as I get one.

Default I looked at the manual

The manual that Airtronics lists is the same for the RD-6000 which lists D/R as Ail/Ele - no rudder mentioned. They do not appear to have a sepereate manual for the RD-8000. Perhaps a mistake on their website.

Default RD 8000

I noticed the same thing about the 8000 manual being the same as the 6000. It did say that the RD 8000 has dual elevator channels, thus not needing a Y harness. Guess we'll wait to hear from you on the the rudder dual rate. Let us know.

Default Elevator D/R

I believe what that means is you can hook up the two elevator servos to separate channels and 'program' the radio to move both servos together, eliminating the Y harness. The effectively makes the Receiver the Y harness, but I do not believe this has any effect on the D/R functions, or any other functions, on the TX. It does 'burn' a channel up on the RX, though. I think you can do the same with the ailerons and make the 'flapperons' using programming. Then if you use 4 servos on a with with split/separate flaps (e.g. Ultra-Sticks) you can do some pretty wild mixing.

Can't wait for this Radio. Anyone have any idea when it will ship? They are 'guesstimating' end of Feb. at the LHS.

Default D/R? well, yes and no

Airtronics just updated their website to include the correct manual for the RD8000 and, sure enough, the RD8000 supports D/R on ail/ele/rudder BUT only in Helicopter mode!

So, looks like it does support 3 D/R functions, but you may have to do some fiddling to un-mix the helio functions and do without some of the fancier aircraft mix functions to get all three D/R channels.

Default Dual rates

I was looking thru the manual on my RD 6000, and it has dual rates for all three axis in the helicopter mode only. I'm sure it would work, using a mix, but you lose the channel that you use for dual aileron servos. I was hoping that the RD 8000 would give the 3 dual rates in Aero mode.
