modding a built in radio band?
so we have some rc planes in 49 and 27mhz. there pretty cheap planes so they dont have interchangable crystals or anything, for different frequencies. so i was wondering if you knew if it was possilbe to say hardwire or somhow switch the freqency, so we could have 3 planes going like 35mhz or 50 or somthing. crystals as you know are readily available, its if you could solder it in or somthing that i dont know! any advice would be great!!! thanks

RE: modding a built in radio band?
Not in this country.
Air 27/72 MHz unlicensed: 50/53 MHz with a HAM license---all of them spot frequencies only. 75MHz is surface only.
Same old line you must have read 1000 times before (but it is true) you can NOT change a Tx frequency unless you are licensed to do so as it is illegal in the USA.
The frequencies you mention are not available for your use in this country.
Frankly what you are proposing is capable of causing serious losses and is what we fliers have nightmares over!
The answer is NO ------HELL NO!

You are limited to spot frequencies on 27MHz and 75MHzbands.
You are NOT free to use 49MHz. nor are you free to use Channel 49 on the 72MHz. band.
PLEASE------put the TOYS in a box and go sink it.
