Do these servos use Karbonite gears?

Hi,
Thanks for the info. I wish they were made of nylon. They can take more of a shock. Took out the output gear for no reason at all.

G'day Mate,
One very important point, is not to use any form of locktite, on the servo arm screw thread.
It will destroy the splined shaft.

They have been shearing output shafts they circulated some warnings about appropriate use.

And that was proven to be operator error due to using Loctite on the horn screw. I have been using the 821's in 4 different 1.20 size planes up to 13 pounds that see extreme 3D flying, and have not had a single problem. They're a great servo. I also use them in my Falcon heli.

Actually no, it applies to vibration as well but the one incident I witnessed had nothing to do with locktite and it was on a 46 sized airplane.

I did not use any Locktite. The plane is a Giant Spotster with a Fuji 32. It has only a barndoor aileron
and small throws. The engine vibration did it. It took a tooth out of the main gear.

Well, now you know the major reason why we never use nylon geared servos in a gasser. You failed to mention that in your first post. Especially a Fuji.

These gears are not nylon. They are karbonite which is very brittle and will shatter. I have four gasers with nylon geared servos and never a problem. A G62, G38, G23, and an SPE 26. I have a Saito 100 that vibrates much more than my Fugi.

True, they are not nylon, but you must treat them as though they are. JR does not condone the use of those servo's in a plane bigger than a 12 pound craft, nor gassers. If you're running a gasser with nylon servo's, then I hope you're caught up on your prayers, especially running a Fuji, lol.....
