Mesa is very close to Seattle?
In my years of flying -the number of times I flew -intentionally in rain-- -never.
rain here -is attached to thunder -a close friend of lightning which is not a friend of those wandering around with antennae poked in the skies.
SHAZAM!

There are very few electrical storms in Seattle. It just gets misty. Actually Seattle gets less rain than NY. It just takes longer.
I have flown in the rain many times. I just get a paper plate, poke a hole in it for the transmitter antenna and fly. I won't even have to poke a hole in the plate for 2.4ghz.
I used to be an installation engineer for the General Electric Co on the AN/FPS 6&8 radars. The 6 was 3ghz and the 8 was 1.2ghz. Rain did not bother either one except when it got very heavy. I think 2.4 ghz will be OK if you keep the antennas dry. A paper plate over the transmitter should do it. You could put the whole works in a plastic bag.
But if it rains 4in/hr you probably should stay inside until it quits. I can't rain like that very long or you will be under water.
I lived in St Lewis for awhile and flew at Bruder park. I went there to fly one day after it had rained for a week and the park was under 4 feet of water. That's probably more rain that you get in ten years in Utah.

OF COURSE this thread has devolved into the absurd. The only logical place to go is comic relief.
I post something that I thought was very funny about waiting for a pin in the rain and someone says
"you got anything better?" Sheesh.
It reminds me of something Carson said when nobody laughed at a joke.
"...some of these are just for me."

rain n lighting and dry lightning are not to be teased here--
many years back I was flying on the salt flats and a storm atmosphere came slowly moving in-- I heard a strange humming noise --it was coming from my TX - I landed the model and listended close up to the tx - -yes- hum was from it -so I set it down - -hum increased - I shut it off -collapsed the antenna and beat feet out of there .
I really don't know why the TX hummed -but suspected I was somehow attracting an imbalance in electrical activity.
Golfers with any sense , stop playing in storms here .

I really think Campy got the idea. I think all of us should just leave him along. Wev'e had some fun with this and he'e not come back in to help keep this going. One test would be fun. Try with a scuba tank in a pool with boats. Dennis
