Futaba servos with Spektrum DX7
Has anyone used Futaba servos with the Spektrum DX7? Will the servos plug directly into the DX7 receiver without any modification to the Plugs?
Thanks
Thanks

RE: Futaba servos with Spektrum DX7
Hey,
I just saw what looks like the solution to my problem. I am running Hitec large servos and they won't fit. Is there any adapter that is better than shaving that anyone knows of - new to all of this, thanks, Mike

I've seen adapters for airtronics stuff. They could be made if you really wanted to. Just my personal opinion, I wouldnt use an adapter because of having additional connections. I try to keep that to a minimum and have been known to cut connectors off and splice in extension wire. I have had connectors give me problems after being installed for a few years. Once the futaba guide is cut off, you can use that servo in any receiver. I do it to all my futaba servos.

Thanks Edwin,
You are right I am sure. I will be cutting off the male part (ouch). If you have done it over the years without problems, that's good enough for me.
Thanks,
Mike

RE: Futaba servos with Spektrum DX7
I am getting back into RC again after almost a 10 year layoff.
I am about to buy a new radio. I was interested in the Futaba 7 channel. At our last club meeting I asked if they had a listing of frequencies everyone uses. They didn't, but someone told me to check out the Spekrum DX7.
I did and was impressed. I told my wife I would like to get one but I have all these Futaba servos.
Well, according to this board looks like that isn't a problem anymore. The Spektrum has moved way up on my list.
Then too, they expect the other brands to switch to this system in a few years.

RE: Futaba servos with Spektrum DX7
Hi, I used the DX7 rx for the first tests on my Cessna OS.61 powered.
Servos are the old Futaba ones. Had to cut-off the long tab on one side, sand smooth and sand two bevels (pay attention to the side). Worked like a charm immediately.
Today main test of the complete system installed in an Extra 300 Mvvs .91 powered.
Double aileron servos, double elevator servos (Spektrum digitals) Hitec rudder and Futaba throttle.
Everything perfect in bench tests.
Shall report soon on flight results.

Before you pop for the DX7, Tower is taking orders on the new 2.4Ghz Futaba 7C radio, $319 with 4 standard servos, very competitive with the DX7, if you don't need it tomorrow, as they are taking orders I'm sure they will be available soon.
Explore all options.

I'm one of the fat, dumb, and happy Spektrum users. I now have it in 5 giant scale aircraft, and it is absolutely the most precise, reliable, and glitch free systems that I have ever owned.
Regarding servo connector trimming, it's a peice of cake. A sharp exacto knife removes the guide, and one of my wifes heavy duty emory boards bevels the edges. The Spektrum / JR connectors are slightly "D" shaped, but each connector takes only about a minute to modify.
