Futaba FP-T7UAF & 8U/9C Compatability
Hi,
I currently own two radios; the Futaba FP-T7UAF and the FP-T7UHF. Both use the FP-TP-FM RF transmitter Module and the FP-R128DF Receiver. (maybe the FP-R127DF But I’m pretty sure it is the first one).
I’m looking at purchasing a new Radio (one I can program multiple planes into) like a 8UAF or 8UAFS or possibly a 9CAF Radio.
My question is will my existing RF transmitter module and receiver work with these new radios? If not, will any current Futaba model radios work with my existing equipment?

Hi Goldwing! Yes, the TP module is the exact same module used in 8U and 9C as in your 7U.
You can find programming help for using your older 7U, as well as extensive info on 8U and 9C, including the exact answer to this question, at www.futabarc.com/faq.
happy flying!

RE: Futaba FP-T7UAF & 8U/9C Compatability
Hi have the same FP-T7uaf radio, trying to find a compatible receiver, never used this one, brand new, so don't know much about what it will or won't work with. Don't see much in the way of FP-R128df recievers out there to buy....what should I do? Thanks, Ryan

Bax - am I confused or what - I thought the 7UAF would work with only FM receivers, the 7UAP would work with FM or PCM. I've got a 7UAF and I've never found the pcm modulation format, am I missing something?

Page 19 of the manual states how it can be changed. You use the "MOD" function. C = PCM, F = PPM. It's one of the options as you go through the menus.
The 7 UAF came with an FM-PPM receiver, and the 7 UAP came with an FM-PCM receiver. Programming is the same, though.

well I'll be darned.. it's page 23 on my manual, I should have said mine's a 7UAFS. When I select the PCM mod format (thanks, Bax) the indicator in the display is flashing. Is that normal, or does that imply something's not right?
Thanks again!

I'll have to try that.. thanks a million for the info, Bax - all along I thought this was an FM only transmitter. Heck, I even sold a couple of PCM receivers I had acquired with another package deal because I thought I couldn't use them. Guess I should not be so set in my ways, eh?
I just put new batteries in that TX a while back, so I guess I'll keep it around for a while.
