The book (instructions) say 30 paces with the DX7 and the bind button held depressed.

I've been flying the DX7 since last December so I can verify that this will give you out of sight airborne range. Obviously you need to maintain the appropriate battery charge conditions/binding/etc.

As far as maximum you will receive no answer----beyond "line of sight".
For our purposes that is not a useful number and the signal drop out will vary considerably based upon myriad conditions both atmospheric and topographical.

The above is based upon the DX7/AR7000 combination used in fixed wing aircraft. I would not consider attempting to operate this set up without the satellite Rx used-------why court disaster when that function is an integral part of their design?

I have no experience with the 6100.

I love the range stuff some advertise -
beyond unaided visual - they all all should shut down
Why?
if we setup a stage for camera aided and or tv aided stuff -- the boys at the Federal level are going to be on us like a duck on a June bug.
Sure some guys are wild eyed at "model flies from Pomona to Vladivostok n back" stuf - but the Homeland Security folks think very little of THAT kind of crap being easy to do in anyones' hands-- If someone really is into long distance flying - let em get a license for it .
I ain't kidden.

Ain't no guarantees...

But here's the official stuff I've seen posted by some of the tech support types;

AR7000 is defined as a "full range" rx.

AR7000 is NOT to be used without the satellite rx.

AR6100 is for park flyers and small electrics, not for even glow powered stuff.

AR6100 does not have the capability to use a satellite rx.

AR6200 has a satellite rx and is defined as "full range" rx.

Boy....Dick Hanson nails it again.

I discovered a while back that it's really tough to control a model you can't see. Part of the reason Giant Scale models got as popular as they did! About the time in your life you can afford nice equipment...you can't see anything smaller than 200" in span.

Could you imagine though...."New DSM3 with Satellite Uplink!!!".

Whoa. There'd be "R/C Clubs" springing up all over the middle east.

Ain't that the truth...

I had a discussion with one of the younger guys at our club the other day about the models being hard to see in certain situations. He said something to the effect of "what do you mean? It's right there!" To which I replied "yeah I can see it, I just can't tell what it's DOING!"
