Default Deans 2-piece whip antenna, wire length?

Hi Guys,

So, I've got a 2-piece Deans whip and I'm planning to use it on a Futaba 9CAP-Super.

The Deans instructions clearly state that the antennae should be cut between 4 and 10" from the receiver. My question is, is there an optimum length that will maximise the quality of reception?

Thanks,
Kelly

Yes, I understand that, but as with most electronics there is going to be an optimal configuration. I'm still free to place the receiver in a number of positions in this jet, while the antenna is already mounted, so I'd like to place it for the optimal antenna length if possible.

I sent an email to Deans about it, which got an auto reply with a phone number to call for product questions. I'll post if I hear anything valuable to share.

I spoke with their tech department (714) 828-6494, and they claim the optimal distance is about 7" No idea how much better 7" is vs 4" or 10", but I'm going with that...
