Default JR 8103 Programming

I just finished building an Ultra Stick 60. I programmed all of the features it has. One thing I can't get is the aileron-flap mix to work right. The flaps move with the ailerons but no far enough. The flaps only match the ailerons when the go down. Please help.

Add the following steps and you should be able to correct this. You may need to recenter the servos, if you have any sub trim on the flap channels zero them.

8103 Program modification for Ultra Stick

1. Go to Function List
2. Go to D/Flap T.
3. Activate Pot 6 (flap)
4. Go to a Program Mix (any mix but 1 or 2) 3 or 4 would be best
5. Set up Flap-to-Flap mix (flap switch should be on LAND pos.)
6. Turn flap pot to full negative value.
7. Select "Offset" in the mix and press Clear/Store button (the offset value should be between -171 and -222)
8. Go to D/Flap T. and set Pot 6 to INH
9. Return to your Flap-to-Flap mix
10. With flap switch in top (ELEV) position, adjust the upper rate value until the flaps are level.

Default Problems

I put the one-inch servo arms on all of the wing servos. The pushrod is connected to the middle hole. I tried what you told me. It didn't solve the problem. Before I did what you said I noticed that the right flap doesn't go up at all. It will go down with the aileron-flap mix, but not far enough. The elevator-flap mix works fine except thet the right flap won't go up. Please help.

To start with, go to the servo monitor and see if all channels are moving properly. If all channels are moving properly on the servo monitor, i.e. moving full travel, the problem is in your servos. If they are not moving properly, it is going to be difficult to guess where the problem lies. It would be best at that point to give a call to one of our product support techs at 877-504-0233 and run through the programming.

Default Arggh!

It doesn't make sense. I programmed everything correct. The servos are in the right slots in the receiver. The right flap servo works fine when plugged into the aileron channel. I don't get it. Did anyone else have this problem?

Are they moving correctly on the servo monitor?

On the servo monitor the AUX 2 (right flap) does move the way it should when the aileron-flap and elevator-flap mix is enabled. What do I do?

At that point it has to be something in the airplane. It may be something as simple as a bad extension. If you can, plug the servo directly into the receiver and see if it moves the proper amount, or try a new extension. If that doesn't solve it, try another servo plugged into that channel and see if it solves the problem.

Would a bad extension cause the servo to move one way and not the other?

I have seen extensions cause very strange behavior. If they are making intermittent contact can cause very unusual problems.

I will try what you said. If that doen't turn out to be the problem then what are the other possibilities? Thanks for all of your help.

About the only other possibility would be a receiver problem, but it is really difficult to say. If that doesn't cure it, you may need to send in your TX/RX. I hope that will take care of it. If not, please let me know.

I found out that the pushrods must be the same length. This helped a little. I also found out that the servo on the servo monitor is at its full travel long before it gets to where it should be. How do I fix this?

Go to the servo monitor, put the flap switch up, all the way towards ELEV. In this position, the flap and the aux 2 positions should both be close to the center. It sounds like you have to have too much offset and you are running out of travel on your servos. Disconect the arms from the servos, in the mix I described above, set the percentage in the mix until in the servo monitor, the flap and aux 2 channels are in the center with the flap switch up. Then recenter your servos. This radio took -50%, and it has an offest value of -171. Just be sure that with the switch up, those 2 channels are centered. You should be set at that point.
