Default Spektrum DX7 Lockout

Hi guys my spektrum dx7 radio keeps locking out on me when i am in flight, i am using a AR6200 full range receiver, when i do the range test it is fine, when i start flying around and take it up it just locks out and goes in to fail safe till its back in range , i am using a pheonix 60amp speed controller, i have tryed re-binding it, i have another plane with another spektrum receiver in it but i am to scared to fly that in case it locks out 2. (Has the AR7000 got more range)

Any suggestions?

Many thanks

More likely a battery problem (or power) than a range problem. What are you using for a battery?

It could be a low voltage issue from the bec. You need to use a flight pack battery for the receiver or a UBEC (ultimate BEC). It's probably rebooting from low voltage, a common problem with a speed control BEC.

Try using the batt. that came with the radio just to pinpoint the problem. I would suspect the bec too.

Must have been a bad batt. from the start. I'd be sending it back under warranty. Mine's in a 1/4 scale plane with no problems.

Fraid the wouldn't work. As you see it's made for the carpet cars. But I might suggest the new Castle Creations UBEC. It will supply the voltage to the the rcvr. and servos without dropping voltage, at least little voltage drop. Not to expensive either. Check it out on their website. I'm in the middle of hooking one up right now. I use other UBECs on my bigger electrics but they are about twice the size and twice the cost. Havn't had a lockout yet.

The ones (BEC)by Dimension Eng are also very good and a variety is available
I have been using these plus the ALIGN ESC in my 400-700 watt setups

There are also ESC's called switching ESC's. EFlite just announced on their web page a 60AMP model good for 6 servos and possibly more. Price looks good, too.

I imagine in the next few yrs. they will all be switching BECs in the ESCs. Something that should have been done some time ago. Could have saved a lot of planes and choppers.
