Futaba 12 FGA VS. JR X9303
Hi Guys.
I am considering (although still not sold) a new 2.4 system and was wondering how these two systems compare. For me things like full programing of all channels is important (my 9C will not let you use basics like endpoint adjustment on all channels...very frustrating). Reliability is the most important thing considering I will be using this in a multi thousand dollar jet.
Thanks for the input.

Is your 9C the older version, or a 9C Super? I have the 9Cs and it has 8 channels that are fully proportional with sub-trim and EPA on all 8, only the 9th channel is strictly on/off.
I don't know all the differences between the 9C and the X9303, but as far as capabilities go it would be a sideways move, at best you would pick only one more proportional channel.
You cannot compare the 12FG with the X9303, the Futaba is in another class, with 12 full proportional channels and two on/off channels, so it's actually a 14 channel unit.
Now as to which to choose as regards to spread spectrum systems, that's a harder choice, personally I like what I see of the FASST systems and am considering going that route with my 9Cs. The only feature that Futaba can't offer (patents??) is Model Match, a nice idea, but no substitute for a complete pre-flight check of control surfaces before each flight, I'm sure you are very careful of this if you fly turbines
Regards,
Pete

How about a nice FACTUAL comparison----we could all use one -----------------for a change!
I happen to be a Spektrum/JR guy---------I would still like to see a real comparison of the two sets. How about the FACTS without the hyperbole------------on either side.

There is a lot of mixing going on with these jets. Dual flap servos, dual elevator servos, brakes with elevator, flaps with elevator, Rudder with Nose wheel steering and so on. The 9C forces you to use matchbox type devices. Take my F-18 for example. Two rudder servos that can only be mounted in a specific manor and a separate nose wheel steering servo. Try getting all three servos to move in the direction you want and the exact amount you want. Virtually impossible. As for the simple on off function of channel 9...........I cant ever get a mechanical linkage to adjust to the fine precise amount of throw required of a retract valve for example. And with space constraint and limited mounting options getting the direction right is a crap shoot. I need end point, sub trim, servo reversing and so on to get the job done. For the record, I love my 9C Super. It is just a bit limited for jet applications.

I fly my jets with th 9C, it's ok, but not great. Likely upgrade to the 12Z. The more economical 12FG can't use the 8 channel expander that futaba sells. The 12Z can use a couple of them for a total of 26 proportional channels + 2 on/off[X(].
good luck,
Edgar

Check the decoder [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLZH6]here[/link].
Only works with the 14MZ and 12Z. However it works with normal FM, PCM and futaba G3. Think it should work with FASST also.
The transmitter will split one channel into eight when using one of these units. Each new channle is fully adjustable (endpoint, limits, etc). You can use up to two of them
Most likely they update slower, so no elevators there...

I was simply asking about the 9C because it might actually still do what the original poster wants it to do...and may not have been aware...
Also, there are FASST modules due very soon for the 9C
I love mine....
but I just upgraded to the 14Mz and while it is a chunk of change... I am thoroughly impressed

OK you want some factual differences X9303, 30 model memory, 12FG, 30 base with 1800+ with optional SD 1G memory card.
Ability to switch to back 72 Mhz in 30 seconds to fly a plane that may be problematic installing a 2.4Ghz receiver.
