Default 3PKS

Hello folks. Ok, it is time to upgrade my Radio. Previously I was running 2 DX3's for my 5 trucks, and now I want to deal with just one radio, and have alot more adjusment, and speed.

I have decided on the Futaba 3PKS Synthesized radio, with a Spektrum Module in it so I can still use my Spektrum receivers in all of my vehicles, otherwise that is $500 down the drain!! Ok so my question is: A guy at my LHS, whom I am starting to think is giving false info, tells me that because it is not a Spektrum radio, and because I am "mixing" brands, that I cannot program a fail safe into my receiver just like I could with the DX3? What I need to know is, can I run a 3PKS, with a Spektrum module, and still be able to set the fail safe for full brakes, in the event of lost signal, dead battery, whatever, or is it not possible?

Are there any conflicts with mixing the radio with a different brand name module? I thought people did this all the time??

Also, does anyone know if the "transmitter only" radios you see for sale are the synthesized version, or do you have to buy the full package to get the Synthesized version??
