Default Can I use my air TX/RX in a surface craft?

I just spent $300+ for a Spektrum DX7 and AR6100 air system and I was wondering if I could use it in a car. I've seen people use "stick" Xmitters with cars and I thought I could use just the Throttle and Rudder to control the the motor ESC and the steering servo.

What kind of tweaking in the TX set up would I have to do to make it best handle driving a car?

I would use a surface ESC for the motor, so do surface ESC's work the same way the air ones do? I could just plug it into the throttle spot on the RX...

Is this a viable idea?

I love Spread Spectrum and would like to be able to run a truggy around the backyard every once-in-a-while without having to shell out a bunch of $$ for a whole new surface system...

What ya think?

You can use the 2.4 GHz in both aircraft and surface models. No worries. Have a blast.
