RE: 12x on horizons site!!!!
I paid $1450 in 94 for my 9ZHPS. with inflation not bad, still in same $ range and you get 12 channels.
But I did get 4 servos that worked well for me. They were ~70 each back then.
With all the different setups people have today, I am glad they do not sell servos in as a package.
This way I can pick the size/models I want.
Just my opinion.
EDIT: I bought the 14MZ over a year ago and I do not regret buying it.
I look at what is offered over the long run, the functions/features and other items.
My 9ZHPS is still working after 13+ years. That is just over $100 per year and it is still going so the cost/year will drop even more.
If you want to, break it down to $ per hour of flight time. My 9Z is way under $1 per hour.
Love the touch screen on the 14MZ!
Find the radio system you like and go for it.

RE: 12x on horizons site!!!!
Well, the high cost might be worth it if the quality is there. I'm very unhappy with the quality of the X9303, but IF the 12X is assembled with tighter-spec'd discrete components (diodes, resistors, caps etc.) and higher level QC standards with tighter controls, and maybe extend the temperature range for operation, then it might be worthwhile. The difference in price between the 12X and the X9303 is only one plane. If course, if there's no difference in quality then the price is too high for me.

And JR12 doesn't have the easy to program touch screen anymore like the 10X series. Everytime I have to program my 9303 and mess with that roller dial I really cuss. Let me see...do I hold this button down and turn on the transmitter or do I turn the transmitter on and then push it? A big step backwards. And I don't need fifty model memory.
And I don't buy that in a dirty enviroment the touch screen is no good, as I work in the ag sector and about everything has gone to large touch screens.

RE: 12x on horizons site!!!!
Anyone know whether the 12X will permit users to assign the same tx ID to multiple models in the model memory, such that the model match will work for whichever of those models is selected? This is a big shortcoming for me in the X9303, I have planes that I want to be able to use with different battery packs or states of trim. Right now I have to re-bind at the field to swich between two different battery packs on the same model for instance (because the packs have different performance characteristics and mass and size difference cause the CG to change slightly).

RE: 12x on horizons site!!!!
Sorry you took offense. Your post indicated that you thought the price was too high. How that makes me an something other than what I am, I don't have a clue. This radio isn't for everyone. That's why JR makes many levels of radios.
Your qoute said it all.

RE: 12x on horizons site!!!!
Wow!! $1500 what a deal! (Not kidding)
I was expecting MUCH worse! I bought my 10x 10 years ago for only a few hundred less. I will stick to the 10x for a while longer (because I love the touch screen as was mentioned above) but will make the jump when my 10x can't hack it anymore . . .
