I have a Futaba FP-T7UAP that I am going to break out and start using. It has been sitting in storage so it's quite dirty. Can anyone recommend what type of liquid to use to clean all the dirt/grim that has collected on it? Thanks!

Certainly nothing with ammonia. An auto parts store is probably your best bet since most car interiors are plastic these days.

I've found the Armor All products pretty safe. Meguiars make a plastic polish.

You can also try the old standby of plain water with a dash of dishwashing liquid.

I was just concerned that water could screw up the electronics inside...But maybe I shouldn't be so concerned if I just use it sparingly.

I use denatured alcohol and a q-tip for all the tight spots.

I avoid using it on the screen though.

I still have my 7UAP, great radio. I wish I could get a decent large capacity battery for it.

Why can't you? My local shop will custom make whatever capacity battery I want for it. You should be able to get the same???

Just a cautionary note. Don't get carried away and use some strong solvent like carb cleanre. I did and it dissolved the gimbal sprign attachemnt points and I had to send it in for a rebuild.

If you have have the stock 9-volt type battery connection, you need to change that to a conventional plug. Once you do that, there are many battery vendors that have large capacity batteries that fit. It is wise to change that connector anyways, since they have been known to lose connection in flight!

FWIW, I have owned three of these radios, and loved them all.
