Default Is there a technological reason for no 72 SS?

For all the radio gurus, I am just curious, is there a technological reason why a spread spectrum radio cannot be made on the 72mhz band?

They are being made for 72 mhz radios. It is an add on module. If you asking why there is no 72 mhz SS, it's because SS uses the 2.4 ghz band. Totally different animal.

Deadey, that is my question.

Could a spread spectrum radio use the 72mhz band. 2.4ghz and 72 mhz are just two different frequencies, so I just wondered if there was technoligical reason for not using 72mhz in a spread spectrum system.

(note: I have a 2.4 ghz system)

I am not a radio guru, but I beleive the bandwidth on 72 mhz is too small for SS. Like trying to force an analog signal on a digital device for example. Somebody please come in and explain this better.

2.4 is wider band offers hundreds of channels to modulate to. 72mhz is too narrow a frequency to do the same with. without a wave guide its hard to demonstrate with. 72 mhz only offers tens of channels to modulate to.

Probably the most important factor, 2.4Ghz is allocated for SS by the FCC, 72Mhz is not.

2.4G is one of the popular mobile phone platform. The technology is mature and cheap. Instead of handling millions of channel at once, RC 2.4G only handle 80 channels.

Those seem to be good reasons. Thanks!
