Default RD6000 and Sirius Pro charger

Hi,
I just bought a Sirius Pro charger. In the instruction book that came with it, it says that the Sirius charger will not detect a battery in the Tx, if there is a diode in the Tx. I have a Airtronics RD 6000 Super radio, that is suppose to have a diode in it but when I hook up the Sirius charger, it seems to charge. The green light comes on, then after a period of time it blinks. Just like it is suppose to.

My question is this. Is the diode only for disharging?
According to the instuction book, the Sirius charger should not work with this radio. Radio is new and never altered.

Any answers?

Thanks a lot!!!

I think the diode is just to prevent you discharging the battery through the charging port....

Thanks for the info.

Yes, I read the link listed in above posting. But what I dont understand is that my Sirius charger detects a battery without the diode being jumped. In the instructions it says that the charger has to detect a battery first or it will not turn on. In the above link, it says to jumper the diode, and then the green light will come on and begin charging. Mine seem to do this without the jumper.

Any comment????

Thanks again.

There is no problem, just a question.
Why does it work when it shouldn't. Lucky you.

Maybe the new radios are using a poly-switch (or whatever they are called) instead of a diode.
