Default futaba 2.4 gig RX placement

hello everyone,

well another quick question for you. i have a new futaba 2.4 gig faast radio and i am placing it in a hangar 9 B-25 i just took this picture of the way i would like to mount it ( will be wraped in foam and secured) is this a good way to do it ? all this new techno stuff is hard on this old brain .

according to the instruction manual it says to keep the anntenaes at 90 degrees of each other and at least 1/2 in from any metal. so from what i can see this should do the trick.

any and all suggestions for RX placement are very welcome

thanks for all the help.

You have the antenna tips nearly parallel, according to the picture. The don't look like they are at 90 degrees to each other.

Here's one of many layouts... The white small wires are what need t be 90 deg apart. You should probably keep them away from other wires too.

thanks ron,

thats kind of what i figured, i just goofed when i taped them down and took the pic. any idea if those little screws that hold the tray down will interfere with the RX ? i have alot of room in the belly of this thing so i can move it around quite a bit.

i just want to make sure i have it right so i dont see $1000.00 go crashing into the dirt from something i did wrong in radio set-up.

again thanks and any other ideas would be great.

P.S. what can i use to hold down the RX wires so as not to hurt them ?

You'd probably be good to go - just make sure you do your range check like any other model, but follow the method in the instructions. I just switched over a 6 year old jet to 8 channel FASST and so far I'm happy. [8D]

Edit: regarding the wires, tape is okay. I actually glued some small dia plastic tubing, where the antenna can slide into, to keep the wires from getting bumped out of position. [8D]

Bassmanh, you have so much room there, it's an easy. If it were mine, I'd glue in a small section of golden rod or something similar on the wood strip on the right, fore and aft, and feed the right antenna thru it so the right antenna is running fore and aft. Then on the left glue a small section running perpendicular and feed the left antenna thru so it runs side to side. That's 90 degrees. Or, rather than glue, use velcro with a sticky on one side and stick it to the wood. I've done it both ways and works fine. Make sure the actual antenna the short end section doesn't touch anything.

I wish I could do a picture but I'm not that talented with the computer.

By the way, that's a hell of a fish, what kind of bass is it?

I put my antennas through some glow fuel tubing and zip tied them down.

With this FASST system... I can plug it into my 72Mhz 9C and it'll become 2.4 along with a 2.4 receiver? HUMMM??

Shogun, you'll need a 2.4 GHz transmitter module to replace the 72 MHz module.
