Default Futaba 9C, Mixing questions...

I am looking to setup mixes uses my 9C radio to do the following. I've read my manual but I'm a little confused and don't want to setup something that can doom my plane.

I need/want to setup 2 mixes that are on all the time.

Rudder-Ailerons - 7% aileron movement with rudder to mix out roll coupling.

Rudder-Elevator - 20% elevator movement with rudder to mix out pitching towards the belly in knife edge.

Any assistance would be great and it doesn't have to come from a GP tech person.

Thanks in advance...

Hi, David! first quesiton, do you have to use 6/7? these are curve mixes, meant to be for adjustment of diff amounts at different throws. its much easier to use 1-5 if you can.

assuming you cannot.

1) MASTER = rudder
SLAVE = elevator
points1 through 5 setting = 7% (might find need +7% on one side, -7% on the other, some models do)
switch (doesnt matter)
position NULL
link OFF (unless you have any elevator-xxx mixes that need to be obeyed, like for 2 elevator servos not using ailevator)
trim OFF ( you dont want the elevator compensating when you just give rudder trim)

Let me know if this helps!

I can use any of the mixes 1-7. Reading the manual I thought I need 6 or 7.

Wreck, use any mix you like. 6 and 7 are curve mixes for when you want, say 2% elevator response when near neutral but 10% elevator response when at full throw. 6&7 are just defaulted ot the mixes you want to use.

mixes 1-5 are when you want the same response across the board.

use mix 1, lets say, master = rudder, slave = elevator, link off, trim off, switch setting NULL, percent +7% +7% (both sides) offset 0 and you're ready for rock and roll.

You make it sound so much easier than the manual yet I know you wrote the manual. LOL

it's hard when you can't answer the customers specific installation.... :-)

please look at page 59, the first one under "master". this is your rudder-to-aileron mix exactly...except a different percent -- with the settings all laid out for you.

Yes, your exactly correct... Thanks! That made it sooo easy.

So NULL means on all the time. If I set that to UP/DOWN then it would activate the mix with the switch. Is that correct?

Next question... Are you and Mike planning to attend this years Internet Fly-In on June 7-8 in Edinburgh, In?

You got it! null means always on/ Up means on when switch is up (away), down means when switch is down, etc.

Sorry, can't. other obligations. :-(

After a little time messing with this I had to use link ON to get the second elevator to move and I had to put that elevator at -7% to get it to go in the same direction as the first one. I assume this is becuase I am using ailevators with 2 elevator servos.

Either way I couldn't have did it without your help... thanks again Ann.

AMCROSS: I hope you're available for my questions in a few weeks after I get my Great Planes Patty Wagstaff Extra 300, and new 9 CAP set-up.

Thanks in advance!

doug,
I'll be happy to do my best to assist as long as you post your question here in lieu of or as well as the futaba manufacturer's forum.

No problem with the post. When I'm setting the radio up in the Wagstaff, I'll post any and all questions on this thread.

Thanks in advance!
