Default Futaba charger to charge JR radio?

My JR wall-wart style charger (RX + TX) went bad. I have many Futaba/Hitec/Tower wall wart chargers. Can I take one of the Futaba-style chargers, reverse the wires to the transmitter plug and use it on the JR transmitter?

[8D]Yes you can..be sure to use the connector from the JR charger....if you have a volt meter check the charger, so that the outside shield is + and the center connection is -

As stated, check the polarity, especially the TX. One other problem you will run into is that the center pins on the transmitter jack are different diameters. I believe it is the FUtaba that is larger so it may not make contact well. If memory serves me correctly, when I got my Accucycle, it came with a JR tx plug and it would not fit the Futaba jack. I ended up cutting the end off an old Futaba charger I had and soldering it to the leads to the JR jack.

Don

PS, you might check on Ebay. That stuff is up for sale quite often and goes for next to nothing.

PPS check the wires at the plugs to see if they are broken. If the break is far enough out, you may be able to resolder and be back in business.

Just to clarify what the others have said.Of course You can make the Futaba charger work.Just cut the wire, and solder the plug from the JR carger on it "IN REVERSE". Be sure to mark it,So that neither You OR ANYONE ELSE tries to charge a Futaba with it.

I have a big red tag marked JR and Hitec on the plug for each of my JR and Hitec transmitters.

Thanks! I hadn't thought about the different size plugs.
