digital servo + mechanical gyro = bad idea?
I just bought a digital servo for my heli. I'm running a Futaba g154 mechanical gyro on it and folks say the digi servo might burn up the gyro! is this true? It's not a "made for gyro" servo - just a good ole JR "standard" size sport digi...

No worries; it will be fine.
The only issue would be if you were using a gyro which updates the servo at a higher-than-usual frame rate - if you were to plug in an 'unmatched' servo it would burn out as it would not be able to respond in a timely manner to the gyro's signals.
Futaba's GY401 is an example. Use a 9253 servo with this gyro in DS mode and it works a treat; plug in an unmatched servo and *poof* out comes the Magic Smoke.
