Default Using an AR6000 receiver on a .46 profile

Is anybody out there using an AR6000 receiver on a .46 glow powered profile plane? Most the time we keep these things in close, and it would be easier to mount just the one receiver than two with like the AR7000. You also have the price savings, not to mention the risk of breakage with the profile. We tend to get crazy with these things. LOL

Thanks,

Me too. There is a question of whether or not the AR6000 will work with out module system. If not, Horizon is listing the AR6100 as being compatible with it. Hopefully someone will chime in here with some good info.....

Doug said today that the 6100 would work with the dsm2 system, which is what we have. But not the 6000

It's starting to look like that. The AR6000 is listed as using DSM Modulation, where the AR6100 is using the DSM2 & it states it will work with the module system. Now I wonder about the AR6100E? Is the only difference between it and the AR6000 is the pin location?

It's an inappropriate choice. The AR500 is the right choice.

Hey Mike,

Have you ever used the AR500? What's with the longer antenna on it?

I've not used the AR5000, but if I understand correctly the longer antenna on one side is what makes it a full range rx. Dick Hanson and a few others have played around with those new rx's and seem to like them. Try a search or two for threads on it as I've seen several.

In reference to the AR6000 and a glow powered model, no. It was never intended to run anything but a Park Flyer. Yes it is DSM where everything else introduced later on is DSM2. Now I'm not sure about the new 5 channel tx, but all the other tx's introduced after the DX-6 will also run the AR6000 rx's, but the DX-6 will only run the AR6000.

The AR6100 was basically introduced as a DSM2 replacement for those models which would have used the AR6000, same restrictions on it's use; Park Flyers and small electrics. This is because the AR6100 is not a full range rx and the only difference between it and the AR6100E is the pin location/orientation with the E being the end pin configuration.

If you want an rx for a glow model, as I said above, I think the AR5000 is rated for that but otherwise you'll need an AR6200 or above as those have satellite rx's and are defined as full range rx's. If you want to be able to use a Flight Log or data logger as they are frequently called, that function is available on all the 9 channel and above rx's and the more recently manufactured AR7000's which are also labeled for the data port.

Does that help answer your question?

Yes is does, thank you. I did a search here last night and found the thread that Dick H was on involving the AR500. That will be the receiver I'll go with for my glow powered profile. The AR6100 is the DSM2 modulation which will work with our Spektrum modules in our Futaba tranny's. The AR500 is also DSM2 technology, so that a good fit as well. I've been using two of the AR7000 with no problems at all. They are great.
