Default JR 921 & Power Expaner Pro

I've flown this plane with no power system on 2.4 and it worked fine.

Hooked up a Power Expander Pro to a JR 921 Rx and everything works ok, but the Rx lights are blinking and it's driving me crazy.

If I unplug all of the power expander plugs and turn the Rx on, the lights are steady.
I can then plug all of the PE plugs into the Rx and the lights stay steady.

When I turn off and then back on, the Rx lights blink.

I tried to rebind, but can't figure out how with the PE hooked up.

THanks for any ideas.

Try turning the receiver on then the transmitter. Also, more expensive, get the 922, it is better than a power expander and saves weight, as it has a power expander builted in.

Isn't this what a quick connect version of a Spektrum receiver is supposed to do? I would think that the receiver is indicating a "brownout" due to the receiver power being cycled after connecting to the transmitter.

This is how its supposed to work like pilotpete2 says. I have this exact setup in my 100cc yak. When this happens you have to turn off the tx and rx and it will reset. The PE should not affect the binding process. Just plug the jumper in the bind port and bind the rx like you would without the PE.

If you momentarily turn off power to the receiver while the transmitter is on, when the receiver power is restored the lights blink. This occurs on receivers that have the low voltage quick recovery firmware update.

I understand the quick connect feature, but this was inconsistant.

Like I explained earlier, If I unpluged all of the power expander plugs from the Rx, and turned the system on, the Rx lights were steady.
I then turned the system off, plugged the Expander leads into the Rx.
When I turned both the Tx and Rx back on, the Rx lights blinked.

Bottom line is, when I went back to it a little later, it worked consistanlty as it should.

Josey;
On your setup, where do you have the two power plugs from Expander board plugged into the 921 Rx?
Some guys are telling me not to use the Rx power ports (2 seperate ports on the 921) when plugging in the PE board
to the Rx.
The SmartFly literature warns against plugging the Expander leads into a Rx power port, but nothing about not plugging the
Expander power leads into a Rx power port.

Have you bound a Rx while the Power Expander was installed?
If so, how exactly did you do it?

Thanks for the replies
Bob

I have the power leads going into the throttle port and aux4 port

Yes. I didn't do anything different than you would if you did not have the expander. Nothing is plugged into the bind/bat port. I have a short extension in the data port for use with the logger.
