Planeclothes,
You mentioned that Tower had a special but, I was not aware that Tower was selling the Airtronics SD-10G. Could you please point me in the right direction. We are almost neighbors, I live just north of Melbourne.

Tower has it, not sure what's up with the 7ch rx only though - the 7ch does NOT have the super fast technology of the newer FHSS-3 rx.

RE: MAN reports on Airtronics SD-10G 2.4Ghz radio system
Hello,
its time for my to change my ''old'' futaba 9c and i am between airtronics sd10 or hitec aurora 9. Mostly i fly gas planes and glow pattern. I want to ask you if airtronics have solve the problem with the lockouts with their latest firmware. Which one(aurora9 or sd10) has a better feeling in your hands?
thanks,
john

I've had an SD-10G for a few years now and have never had a lockout. I fly giant gas, .60 size glow and electric (no turbines) without a hint of a problem. I sent the transmitter in for the firmware upgrade but not because I was having any problems but because I like to stay current.

Same here. I got one of the first 100 Airtronics SD-10G in the country and have never had a single issue. We now hove 4 in our small club and everyone agrees that they are the easiest computer radio to program on the market.

I'm currently using an RDS 8000 and I'm planning on buying an SD-10G after the first of year.
I've heard nothing but good things about the SD-10G.
What lockouts have you heard about?

What lockouts??I have and SD10 and have no problems at all..sent it in for the update as mine was in the range of possibly affected Tx's but not a problem before or after the upgrade...
VERYsatisfied with the SD10...easiest to program I have seen and extremely flexible!!!

Sanwa is the non-American name for Airtronics....looking at the ad I found it looks to be the same but you would have to call Airtronics support and ask them to be sure.

RE: MAN reports on Airtronics SD-10G 2.4Ghz radio system
The brand Airtronics is owned by Sanwa from Osaka, Japan. In Japan, the surface radios are branded Sanwa and the air radios Airtronics. At least until the SD-5 and SD-6.
After Sanwa and Cox separated, Sanwa brought the Airtronics brand name in the early 80s.
If I say Sanwa, I am talking about Sanwa Electronic Instrument. This company belongs to a group of firms employing some 6000 people. And don't get confused, there are a couple of companies called Sanwa in Japan which are not connected to Sanwa Electronic Instrument. It's the same with Futaba. There are quite few companies called Futaba but not related to the radio control manufacturer.
If you check your RDS8000 or any Airtronics radio made from the 80s on, you might read "by Sanwa" on the Tx.
Btw, Futaba's car radio brand is called Megatech. How does it sound?
